Wow! It has been a rough Q1. My web host reported a 'possible' security issue in January and made everyone reset their
passwords. It appears that ever since there have been all kinds of attacks and security issues. ( I did reset those passwords
by the way)
I started to notice a pattern. People with Dreamhost web hosting running Wordpress or other PHP based CMS were also reporting issues.
I wrote breifly about my situation on my tumblr. Everything was down so where could I write, right?
If you are in the same case here are some sites that have a lot of information, well as much as we know now (23 March 2012) as to what is going
on and how you can start to piece back together your sites.
Until further notice we are keeping our sites offline. I see it as why go to work sick and spread the germs. Until we find the root cause I don't want to keep getting infected and then infecting others while we try to find out what is going on.
Instead of being upset about our PHP files becoming redirects to rr.nu sites we are taking this as an oppourtunity to learn A LOT about web security and how it all works.
